Facts about tampons and pad

If you are a woman and use pads, but especially if you use tampons, read this and pass it on to your friends. For the men receiving this email, please forward it to your friends, significant others, sisters, mothers, daughters, etc.) Thanks!

Check the labels of the sanitary pads or tampons that you are going to buy the next time and see whether you spot any of the familiar signs stated in this email.
No wonder so many women in the world suffer from cervical cancer and womb tumors. Have you heard that tampon makers include asbestos in tampons? Why would they do this? Because asbestos makes you bleed more, if you bleed more, you're going to need to use more. Why isn't this against the law since asbestos is so dangerous? Because the powers that be, in all their wisdom (not), did not consider tampons as being ingested, and, therefore, didn't consider them illegal or dangerous.

This month's Essence magazine has small article about this and they  mention two manufacturers of a cotton tampon alternative. The companies are: Organic Essentials @1-800) 765-6491 and Terra Femme @(800)755-0212.

A woman getting her Ph.D. at University of Colorado at Boulder sent the  following: 'I am writing this because women are not  being informed about  the dangers of something most of us use: tampons. I am  taking a class this  month and I have been learning a lot about biology and  women, including  much about feminine hygiene. Recently we have learned that  tampons are  actually dangerous (for other reasons than TSS). I'll  tell you this -  after learning about this in our class, most of the females wound up  feeling angry and upset with the tampon industry, and I for  one, am going  to do something about it To start, I want to inform everyone I can, and email is the fastest way that I know how

HERE IS THE SCOOP:
Tampons contain two things that are potentially harmful:   Rayon (for absorbency), and dioxin (a chemical used in bleaching the  products). The tampon industry is convinced that we, as women, need bleached white products in order to view the product as pure and clean. The problem here is that the dioxin, which is produced in this bleaching  process, can lead to very harmful problems for a woman. Dioxin is potentially carcinogenic cancer-associated) and is toxic to the immune and reproductive systems. It has also been linked to endometriosis and lower sperm counts for men. For  both sexes, it breaks down the immune system.
Last September, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that there really is no set 'acceptable' level of exposure to dioxin given that it is cumulative and slow to disintegrate. The real danger comes from repeated contact Karen Couppert 'Pulling the Plug on the Tampon Industry'). I'd say using about 4-5 tampons a day, five days a month, for 38 menstruating years is 'repeated contact', wouldn't you? Rayon contributes to the danger of tampons and dioxin because it  is a highly absorbent substance. Therefore, when fibers from the tampons are left behind in the vagina (as usually occurs), it creates a breeding ground for the dioxin. It also stays in a lot longer than it would  with just cotton tampons. This is also the reason why TSS (toxic shock syndrome) occurs.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
Using feminine hygiene products that aren't bleached  and that are all cotton. Other feminine hygiene products  (pads/napkins) contain dioxin as well, but they are not  nearly as  dangerous since they are not in direct contact with the  vagina. The pads/napkins need to stop being bleached, but, obviously,  tampons are the  most dangerous. So, what can you do if you can't give up using tampons?  Use tampons that  are made from 100% cotton, and that are UNBLEACHED. Unfortunately, there  are very few companies that make these safe tampons. They  are usually only  found in health food stores.  Countries all over the world ( Sweden , Germany , British Columbia , etc.)  have demanded a switch to this safer tampon, while the U.S.  has decided to keep us in the dark about it. In 1989, activists in England mounted a campaign against chlorine bleaching. Six weeks and 50,000 letters later, the makers of sanitary products switched to oxygen bleaching (one of the  green methods available) (MS magazine, May/June 1995).

WHAT TO DO NOW:
Tell people. Everyone. Inform them. We are being  manipulated by this industry and the government, let's do something about it! Please write to the companies: Tampax(Tambrands), Playtex, O.B., Kotex.
Call the 800 numbers listed on the boxes. Let them know that we demand a safe product ALL COTTON UNBLEACHED TAMPONS.
AND FOR THOSE OF US WHO USE SANITARY NAPKINS/PADS:
IF u ever wondered what were the ingredients that made popular brands so "free and light and carefree", well here's the bit:
The material that makes the pad so paper THIN, is cellulose gel. Yeap, it's not even cotton!!!!!! DO NOT wear the same pad for more than 3 hours of a maximum!!! After this duration, the genital area is prone to bacterial action and may result in cervical cancer or other complications!!!!!!!!!!
REMEMBER! NEVER NEVER NEVER WEAR THE SAME PAD FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS!!!!
SO yes, please pass on this message to as many women as  possible and save lives!!!!!!!!!!

Hongkong & Disneyland

Finally my holiday started. We had to catch 7am flight and reach the airport at 4am. Huh so early and Aaron still sleeping in the stroller. After checking the bags we decided to have Big Breakfast in Mc Donald. My hubby managed to do his Subuh(Dawn) prayer before boarding the flight. Aaron sleep the whole journey (thanks god!). I told my mom to keep Aaron wake as late as she can the night before. 4 hours journey with AirAsia is horrible. Not sure if other liner good but for sure we not booking with them if the journey more than 2 hours. IMG_0051Express boarding doesn't really make any different in LCCT. I got backpain as the sit can't recline so much. Even our bus sit can recline much more. Oh well you pay cheap ticket so you get cheap service. I can't comment so much.

When we arrived, a bit clueless on which IMG_0050transportation to use to get to the Disney Hotel. But we took the cab as it is easier even thou it cost us HKD 150. Our room is magnificent and comfy. I love the view and very happy with the service. It was raining when we arrive so we rest a bit in the room before we start our journey to Hongkong Island via MTR. Aaron was fascinated with kid bathrobe and slipper.

Our main focus going to Hongkong is to take Aaron to Disneyland so he can meet Mickey Mouse personally. It was fun to see him get IMG_0117 very excited when he saw Mickey Mouse. But he was puzzled when we  enter the souvenir shop as he sees too many Mickey. Some people commented that Aaron too small to enjoy Disneyland but honestly he enjoyed the day. He really have fun watching the Parade and see most of Disney characters alive. On the street he was dancing away enjoying the day and I don't feel trip is a waste. He don't even want to leave the place. So in future plan, we want to ensure we bring him to Disney World in Orlando before he start primary school. It will not be problem to us as my hubby been there and know way around.

Some people know that I'm good in shopping. We do buy a lot of stuff in Ladies Market, Temple Street, Western Market and the IMG_0074alley (LOL). We manage to go to the Victoria Peak but unfortunately it was raining and very cloudy. Barely can see the sunset. We made time to find Chinese Muslim Restaurant and enjoy the food there. We do travel with MTR and thumb up with their MTR system. If you ever get lost in Hongkong than you must be a fool. Being in Hongkong is something like going to Singapore. Their transportation is  very good especially their MTR station. The instruction very straight forward and it is impossible for you to get lost. But you must have a lot of stamina as you need to do a lot of walking. They have Central like our KL Sentral but better system. Everything in one roof. You don't need to go outside to catch another line train like ours (we had to go out of KL Sentral building to catch Monorail). But lack of public restroom. Even in travel guide did mention Hongkong lack of public restroom. If you have to go, please find Mc Donald.

Overall the trip was great but tiring. Aaron barely want to walk so we taking turn to carry him. The trip back is worth while using the express boarding as we are given priority to be in the flight early than the rest so we can get better seat.

I will be downloading most of the pictures at Facebook. The link will be mention below.

Jokes : The Genie of the Lamp

A woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled upon a bottle. She picked it up and rubbed it, a lowland Genie appeared. The amazed  woman asked if she got three wishes.

The Genie said, ? Nope, sorry three wish genies are a story-tale myth. I am a one-wish genie. So . . . what'll it be??

The woman didn't hesitate. She said, I want peace in the Middle East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each  other and I want all the people of different faiths to love one another, love the Americans and vica-versa. It will bring about world peace and harmony.?

The Genie looked at the map and exclaimed, ?Lady, be reasonable. These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I'm out of shape after being in the bottle for 500 years. I'm good but not  THAT good! I don't think it can be done, "Make another wish and  please be reasonable."

The woman thought for a minute and said, Well, I've never  been able to find the right man. You know, one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and helps with the house cleaning, is great in  bed and gets along with my family, doesn't watch sports all the time,
and is faithful. That's what wish for . . . a good man.?

The Genie let out a long sigh, shook his head and said, "Let me see that freaking map again."

PROBLEM DRIVING AT NIGHT : BE SAFE

CCTV camera records Mat Rempit attack

VIOLENT crime in progress: These pictures tell how 14 Mat Rempit ganged up to beat and rob five women during an early morning fuel stop in Bangsar.
A CCTV surveillance camera captured the attack on the three sisters and two of their cousins at the Shell petrol station in Jalan Bangsar.

Traumatised, they have vowed never to go to a petrol station again after dark.

Twelve young thugs, on six motorcycles, were said to be 'hovering around the station' while a pair on another motorcycle filled up as the women drove in about 3.30am on Saturday.

They were on their way home after a function in Puchong. Sisters Uma Munusamy, 33, Chittra, 32, and Latha, 31, were to drop off cousins Ragas Letchumanan, 28, and Komala, 20, at their Bangsar home when they decided to stop for fuel.

They drove up to a pump at the station. Latha went to the window counter to pay, while Chittra, who was driving, got out to fill up. That was when the Mat Rempit, who had been noisy and boisterous, moved in, as if acting on cue.

One thug attacked Latha, splashing a can of 'Red Bull' energy drink on her face. The sweet-sour liquid stung her eyes, temporarily blinding her as the thug pushed her down, hit her with the drink can and snatched her gold chain and handphone.

Another three dashed to the car to attack the others.

'We were in fear. We thought that we had been splashed with acid, as the liquid they threw on our faces really stung,' said Uma, recalling the attack.

The women screamed for help, but none arrived. The petrol station workers were safe and sound, inside the premises, where the doors had been locked at midnight.
'The workers just stood there, watching,' said Latha.
At the car, the Mat Rempit ordered the girls to hand over their valuables
and handphones. One of them just couldn't wait. He yanked Uma's gold
bracelet off one wrist and at the same time snatched the handphone she
held in the other hand.
Despite fearing for their lives, the girls put up a fight, trying to prevent the robbers from getting away with their belongings. The scuffles only led to injuries, but fortunately, minor ones.
Ragas was hit on the head several times, while Chittra sustained
injuries on her neck and right arm, besides suffering an injury to the
lower lip. She was then beaten up with a soda can.
'The whole incident really traumatised us but what was worse was the
fact the workers did not even bother to help,' said Uma.
This is one nightmare they do not ever want to experience again. And,
for them at least, no more filling up fuel at night, or stopping anywhere
either during the wee hours. Their total loss: RM3,000 in cash and
valuables.
The five made a report at the Brickfields police station soon after
recovering from the shock of the attack. Police said they are investigating, and have yet to identify the culprits.
The women also expressed their frustration over the Mat Rempit
menace.
'So much has been said, so much anger and frustration has been
expressed over these motorcycle thugs... but yet they seem to be having
a free run,' said Chittra.
Their only hope is that justice will be done, that the CCTV images captured by the surveillance camera will lead to arrests and conviction.

Think twice before venturing out at night. Even with CCTV and people watching, nobody will help you all. Take care of your own self.

What a week...

Everyone knows that I have been busy with Facebook for the past few month LOL. I have almost everything there including my photo. I also got to find a long lost best friend of mine who happen to lived in the States after finish her study there in Facebook. In June I have not write anything yet in my blog.

Last week was the hectic week for me. Nursed a sick husband over the weekend and then he was involved with an accident on the way to office on Tuesday. His Yamaha Virago were slightly smash. Lucky we have second bike for him to go to work. He got cut and bruises only. Then we had to rush to Singapore for a day trip due to his work. I was there only for leisure but it is so tiring. Raining day also spoilt the day. We were stuck at Mc Donald Cafe almost 2 hours due to the heavy rain. Then we took a cab to go around Singapore for my mom to do her shopping. We went to Arab Street and Woodland (Malay love to shop there). I didn't buy anything as I could not find anything interesting to buy there. We shoot off back home in the evening. Upon return home, we had to settle the accident case with the insurance on Friday. There goes our weekday.

On Saturday while I had my appointment with Slimming Centre, the car agent called and told us our loan has been approved and we can collect our new car. Finally some good news. We pick up the car on Sunday. Still few thing to do as the car need to be fix with video monitor. Aaron can't seem to sit quietly as he so use to watch TV while in the car. We decide to fix the head monitor for him. May be in this week I get the shop to fix for us.

The Hongkong trip is around the corner. We are preparing our final arrangement. Hope the trip very enjoyable......

The worst week....

While we were enjoying the Labour Day holiday, IMAGE_395my son was injured while playing in the house with my hubby. I was helping my sister with her laptop and then I saw my son fall down and knock himself to the wall corner. At that moment I knew it was a bad fall and rush to him and saw a long cut at his forehead. Blood is pouring like mad and I was static. Run to the kitchen and get the gauge bandage from my First Aid Kit (Thanks god we have that in the house) and trying to stop the bleeding. My sister start the car and my hubby carried him IMAGE_396and straight we go to my family clinic. I was panicking, sad, angry and a tons of feeling at that moment. When the doctor stitched the cut, I tried to comfort Aaron down. It was sad to see him crying in pain when I don't even have any pain when I deliver him into the world. I was feeling guilty for he has to feel thisIMAGE_397 pain. It is not fair. I only start crying when I was on the phone with my mom and never stop after that. That night I have difficulty to sleep because the event keep rewind in my mind over and over again. My parent arrive at the same night per my request as I am worried if I'll be panicking again if my son crying due to the pain. My mom said it is ironic that my son have stitches exactly like me. But I was at least 3 years old when I got my stitches on my forehead also. I can't help it feeling that I am a bad mom for letting this accident happen.

Interesting facts to share

"CORRECT WAY OF COOKING NOODLES"

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it's ready to eat. This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles. By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

CORRECT METHOD:

1.      Boil the noodles in a pot with water.

2.      Once the noodles are cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.

3.      Boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.

4.      Only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.

5.      However, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles and add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
